I'm not sure we're properly weighing Trump's desperation to stay out of jail as a factor in the extremity of his behavior. Political scientists are keen to point out that elections should not have existentially high stakes for candidates, but that's what Trump's facing--he wins or goes to jail.

I dunno. For some of us it's kinda hard to "get over" the fact that one party tried to overturn the results of a free and fair election and stormed the Capitol, and now are running the same candidate who refuses to admit he lost last time. Seems kinda important?

When the Voting Rights Act became law, the DOJ sent letters to every county registrar in the South, informing them of their duties under the law and the consequences for breaking it. I’d like to see the DOJ send a note about these prosecutions to every election clerk in America. Put them on notice.

Bruce Springsteen: I'm supporting Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. This is one of the most consequential elections in our nation's history. Perhaps not since the Civil War has this great country felt as divided as it does. It doesn't have to be this way

Good article on the DOJ's "60 day rule" - generally, aim to not interfere in election outcomes - not written down anywhere - applies to indictments & investigations - does not apply it in progress cases abcnews.go.com/Politics/doj...

What is DOJ's '60-day rule' and what role might it play in a Trump trial before the 2024 election?

The DOJ's "60-day rule" and special counsel Smith’s push to bring Trump to trial before the 2024 election.
