My issues with the ending was the removal of Manhattans final lines from the comic, which reframed the entire thing. Its more major of a change than the squid stuff, and shows me Snyder didn't "get" Watchmen.
well those final lines from the comic are said by Laurie instead. So we still get that reframing of it.
