i had 70k followers at my peak on Twitter and it's nice to be able to read my mentions again. as a legacy blue check and Black woman, I increasingly avoided my mentions and it sucked bc I genuinely wanted to talk to my cool followers more. but the place was just so toxic.
also, not to be a downer, but if Trump wins, Twitter will be absolutely more unsafe than it is right now! Elon will do anything Trump tells him to do... like hand over dissenters
I half agree but as a person on much lower scale. When I had 850 followers I had more interaction as of being on a couple of hundred a couple of hundred means people tend to ignore you. Twitter has changed now ( I lost my first account now have 250) it’s smaller I get more response but here1/2
i really appreciate the pace of interaction and following here. it seems more intentional and far less creepy (less but unfortunately not creep-free).

Even to the extent it’s not toxic per se, there’s just nothing there. Someone I follow did a comparison post yesterday and it got 7 replies there; 2 were obvious bots, 2 were incoherent gibberish from people who appeared to be seriously ill, and the rest were inane mush like “this is good”.
But Wagatwe what about the bluesky bucks that you’re missing out on?????
People would always be like you have so many followers, and I would hit them back with yeah, but I feel so alone because of all the stuff you just listed. They really too the social out of social media over there.
Everybody I know that left twitter and came here who had thousands of followers saw their engagement and interaction skyrocket once here, even if their follower numbers weren't that big. (Also, being here doesn't tacitly suggest Elon's newly minted Nazi site is acceptable.)
