Could you point me towards a source for point #1? I didn't realize it was that big, but it probably depends on how you break it down?

All the journalism awards you see awarded each year must be applied for by media outlets or individual journalists & these can cost $100s per entry This tilts the playing field even further toward Big Media which has the resources & staff to apply for its teams & pay fees Freelancers, not so much!
