I think this is badly written. The issue is not that there is no CPT code. The issue is there is no CPT code because insurers will not cover the surgery. Therefore no CPT code for the surgery exists. If you have no intention of paying for something you're not going to create a billing code for it.

This is a very helpful message in the comments to the article: Don’t call your insurance when you have a question. Use the Chat feature. You can then save the conversation. A « funny » experiment is to ask the same question twice (or more), you often get different answers.
