Granted, if they get out of control, they could cause other problems. As so much of our stuff uses plastic, they certainly could break down stuff outside of garbage
One of the advantages of plastic is the fact that is does not rot. If bacteria are evolving the ability to feed off plastic, then that advantage disappears. How long before we start to see the vinyl siding on homes rotting away?
So if we all have microplastics coursing through our veins, and we're exposed to this bacteria...
