If you're feeding kibble anyway, instead of plonking it in a bowl, put it in your pocket and do a five minute session. He'll soon get interested ;) then you can use the higher value stuff if you have a problem to fix. My bitch is four and still gets mostly hand fed or in a Kong etc.
