Yep and he can be carried to Look At Things out and about if he hadn't had his last vaccs.
It's too short a time to create a lasting bond but he has made a link between whining at her = a reaction or some form of positive result of him, so try and figure out what it is and go from there. They only do what they think works/is in their best interests.
If you're feeding kibble anyway, instead of plonking it in a bowl, put it in your pocket and do a five minute session. He'll soon get interested ;) then you can use the higher value stuff if you have a problem to fix. My bitch is four and still gets mostly hand fed or in a Kong etc.
And when I say training, at this age as simple as, dog is looking at you/has attention on you, 'Yep!' or click if you're using a clicker, handful of food. Build engagement first, then behaviours, then add commands if you like what you see.
Yep. Young dogs need tonnes of sleep, just like kids. The aim of the game is to mentally stimulate them through training and brain games (I use their daily allowance of food to do short sessions throughout the day) and not to physically knacker them, which makes them cranky.
Seriously, ping me any time, been there, done it, everyone realises I was correct eventually 🤣🤣🤣
The other option is to tell them that they are in charge of everything then, including 3am toilet breaks and poop scooping ;) see how long that lasts....oh and when the mouthing/chewing starts.... (Off shortly to shout at.... sorry...train everyone at dog club 🤣)
Also...one of the biggest problems I have when coaching is other family members messing with the plan. The whole household has to be on the same page. If that takes 'actually I bought this dog, I have the receipt and this is how we are training him/her' then do it.
Tell the kids they had a cot. To keep them safe and secure. Horses have stables. Etc etc.
