man this is the beating heart of conservatism right here: throwing a tantrum at being asked to accept modern liberal institutions and then throwing more tantrums when they lose the benefits of modern liberal institutions
I’m watching the beginning of the brain drain from states that have limited tenure at universities. “It must a liberal plot that our state university has lost faculty and respect!”
And getting even more upset when said institutions don’t collapse when they leave.
This is precisely the complaint you hear when blue-state conservatives move to a red state. They feel entitled to the benefits of a liberal society and are aghast at having to live under their own principles

I can’t really pinpoint when conservatives’ veneer of levelheadedness and general position of simply maintaining status quo while refusing to acknowledge the need for progress was shed in favour of never ending public temper tantrums, but it’s been a hell of a thing to watch happen.
what conservatives really want is a playpen where they can cry and scream and talk about how unfair it is that mom won’t let them eat candy and then for mom to bring them a sandwich afterwards to make them feel better
So ludicrous. I can’t believe they are writing articles like this and still have an audience. Can’t they see the irony!?
They want the benefit of liberal institutions without the responsibility said institutions bring (taxes, regulations, diversity initiatives, environmental awareness, etc.)
