The thing about calls for me to “you’re a marine biologist, stick to science, stay out of politics” is that one of the two politicians we’re choosing between wants to fire thousands of marine biologists while eliminating protections for endangered ocean animals. This seems very much in my lane.

Science IS political.

Politics is life, not an abstract other divorced from the concerns of the average person.

The notion that any one of us, as an American, should "stay out of politics" is a notion to be put in its place. Which is in a deep, dark hole.

There are MAGATS everywhere demanding that celebrities or anyone with any sizeable following to “stay out of politics” . I pointed out to one that since he had over 1000 followers he should have to follow his own demands and STFU about politics. He got all huffy! Fuck them, David!
