everything in Harvest is drenched in ritual and superstition, both large and small, as befits a folk Gothic RPG. even creating your neighbours on the Island is a process of divination, using dice to reveal how they fit into the community (or fail to do so).

Oracle Dice
Roll a six-sided die and read the pips to discover this neighbour’s role in the community.
1: They are an Island, lonesome and set apart. Through personal choice, enmity, rumour, or ill fortune, they are isolated from the Island’s community.
2: They are a Shoal, deep water no ship dares cross. They are estranged from someone they were once close with by a terrible gulf of grief, blame, death, or fury.
3: They are a Knot, steadfast and always true. They have one strong relationship with someone dearly loved—perhaps a mentor, a lover, or a friend.
4, 6: They are a harbour, offering safe shelter. They are the head of a family, or else some other kind of caretaker: a teacher, a priest, or a healer.
5: They are a Crossroad, the central hub of the village. They are the linchpin tying two significant villagers together, binding them through love or mutual need.
