I think Mattingly is far more likely to move up into the front office than to accept a demotion to hitting coach. Remember, he's already the bench coach and offensive co-ordinator.

I think the fact that Atkins is going to address the media on Wednesday means that they're sticking with him. Though Shapiro is going first, so maybe it's a ruse.

Cannot wrap my head around the number of people who are willing to look past a ballplayer's ugly sins just because he died today. "It's not the time" is what horrible people count on happening so that their memory gets whitewashed. #MLB

People were allowed to split their votes if they wanted. Only a couple did, though.

I was going to say that if there were multiple coaching changes, #Bluejays would likely announce them at the same time. But then I remembered that they haven’t announced this one yet.

#Bluejays have fired hitting coach Guillermo Martinez, a source close to Martinez confirms. If Shapiro/Atkins believe this will be enough to satisfy the bloodlust of the fanbase, they are more than likely incorrect. I think Matt Hague has the inside track to take over.

The reason to keep him out is that he broke a rule that is posted in every #MLB clubhouse for which the clearly stated punishment is a lifetime ban from baseball. But the fact that terrible people are in a club isn't a reason to keep letting terrible people into that club.

Yes, Pete Rose bet on baseball and lied about it for decades. But today is not the time to focus on that. Today is the time to focus on the fact that when he was 34 and married with two kids he committed statutory rape with one girl and allegedly many others and then lied about *that*.
