It's really wild to me that JD Vance fully admitted that he knows he's lying to drive the kind of fear his supporters are comfortable with feeling, and people are just like, "oh okay." Like, the levelheaded, clear-eyed thing to do right now is to talk about why that's VERY VERY BAD. Not just shrug.
Like, I know it's really hard to constantly have to dig down on something as fundamental as "Why Lies Are Bad," but that's where we are.
"I know both false and harmful, but it's politically useful for me." Full sociopathy.
Also, wild that he admitted this and there has been no motion in the Senate to censure him. Not even any discussion about it.
Because they believe the other side is lying more.
I don’t know if it’s a word, but “Disinfotaimnent” is what I call it. “Lie to me daddy!”
The fact that we have to keep saying this is enough to drive one insane
Problem is that fits the whole 'a good politician is one who stays bought' to a T. Lies and deception are assumed, especially when talking to 'others'.
This is depressing, but I don’t think saying it accomplishes a whole lot. Anyone who supports him thinks it’s good, anyone who doesn’t support him already knows they’re liars, and anyone undecided/tuned out won’t care and probably assumes “all politicians are liars anyways, so what does it matter”
"This is bad news for the Harris campaign."
The same reporter that was interviewing him when he said that asked Walz how he expected anyone to trust him because he used a generic term for artificial fertilization.
