one thing i learned about people is they hate it true statements. the more true it is the angrier they get.
my biggest hangup during EA (that almost convinced me the game would flop before it all came together) was that the 5e aspects of the early game were so fucking boring. i’ll always have a soft spot for baldur’s gate as a series, and bg3 was a masterpiece, but 5e was the weakest part of it. preach.

I became very frustrated with that game because I had never played D&D and felt like BG3 did little to teach me how it works. I quit after Act 2.
lmao people got mad at you for this? this doesn't even feel like a particularly controversial take. personally I preferred original sin 1/2 to BG3, and that's just within Larian's catalogue, to say nothing of other cRPGs by other devs.
D&D is a tactical combat game with roleplaying elements laboriously and often ineffectively grafted onto it. If you like simulating combat with a little light roleplaying to support the combat, it’s fine. If you’re not into the murderhobo lifestyle, though, it’s probably not for you.
