For me, my experience of social media got better when I started 1) putting a timer on apps on my phone 2) tried to limit how much I fight online (I am bad at this) 3) learned how to bow out from an online conversation

idk if this will be helpful but what helped me not argue with people is to ask myself "what do i hope to get out of this interaction" and generally no matter what the answer is, the result is that the cost/benefit never stacks up in favor of arguing. unless the answer is "to be mad and waste time"

I type a lot of things out and then don’t post them—an ongoing skill that’s useful to cultivate is to know when it’s just better to listen rather than talk. You don’t need to be involved in every conversation.
