For me, and probably many others, what's dismaying about the last 8 years is not just that overt foghorning of racism is now routine and normal for the Republican party, but that a signification percentage of the electorate does not believe that is a deal breaker for elective office & public life.
So, after 29 years of being 'online' I can now say that the general idea that all people really needed was access to information was false. It turns out education is required to make appropriate *use* of information. ?????! Who could have predicted this?!
Corporations are not people and have no Constitutional rights. SEC or IRS wants to see your books? No warrant needed. Lie in an ad? Sorry, no 1st Amendment rights. If a corporation makes a dangerous product and people are hurt or killed, the people responsible go to jail.
