Like there’s an assumption among many well-meaning leftists I know that Ukraine is getting the best and latest Western weaponry and a blank check of military support, which….just isn’t actually true

There’s also a complete aversion on the left in understanding how the military functions, the nitty-gritty details of arms shipments and their subsequent use. I hate war/weapons as much as anybody else on the left, but I have come to the conclusion that it’s important to try to understand

Scholz is virtually guaranteed to lose the next election by a large margin, but still trying to appease the far-right on asylum and migration

Many ethnic Kurds and Erdogan critics among those to be deported in another futile attempt by the current German government to “look tough on migration” while throwing human rights out the window

Do you want the debate to be about "Zionism is actually very bad and when I say "Zionists" I didn't mean "Jews" or do you want it be about "this person is supporting a military campaign of atrocious crimes against humanity". 5/

"Zionist" is a powerful shorthand, but unfortunately it is a shorthand that is used in different ways by different people. So yes, within your ideological circle you may know exactly what you mean by it, but that's by no means universal. 4/

One of the dangers of a party like BSW is that it manages to launder intense xenophobia through the lens of social solidarity with the argument that foreigners are an existential threat to the social safety net.

It sometimes feels like the equivalent of asking a Muslim if they support Al-Qaeda/Wahabism/Islamism etc etc

To be clear, I don’t think the question is in any way inherently antisemitic, particularly coming from a Palestinian. My issue with it is a) assuming that I as a Jew have a binary pro/anti Zionist identity b) I don’t think the term is actually very useful
