You know, I’ve never met the guy… but I can’t help but think that Vincent Van Gogh wouldn’t be in favour of a 27 month prison sentence for throwing a can of soup at his painting.
He never had a chance to profit off of his own work, or be celebrated. You’re handing down a prison sentence of ~2 years a piece because someone threw a can of soup at a thing that someone else built a story around and someone else took ownership of.
not even that, for throwing a can of soup at the glass that is on top of and protecting his painting! 🫠
I still want to see this art someday & i still completely understand why this happened. In fact, as an artist, i see this as another part in the timeless conversation that art is. Many artists worshipped by mainstream society got there by creating very confronting works about political things.
I like to think we might have supplied the soup🥫
Guy was so poor he'd have offered to paint another one if he could have the soup.
