Meta's Threads already looks cooked - users are down to 6 minutes a day and traffic is dropping. It's because it lacks any real reason to exist - it's a network that shows a deep and presumptuous contempt for what the user wants to see and do. https://tinyurl.com/wyat72123
The problem with killing Twitter is that every alternative is very US or Anglo centric. Threads doesn’t have Europe and from what I can tell little African or Asian content. There isn’t even Irish Threads. And you can’t have sports talk there bc I don’t know who is discussing say the Wimbledon final
It doesn't help that the app was a rush job meant to take advantage of Twitter's rate limiting problem.
Everytime you refresh your front oage, it shows the threads of people you know even follow, and expects you to be fine with the random placements. They need to quit that.
There is no search function. Fundamental flaw.
The ultimate problem facing social media today is that those in power are not power users, do not understand the product they’re building, and continue to fuck it up as a result. Twitter succeeded because Jack & Co were afraid of messing with it too much. https://tinyurl.com/wyat72123
Yes but some users, like me, are looking for content by news orgs, reporters, sports teams, etc. that require engagement at a level we don't see here. I don't know which app I will ultimately choose (not Twitter, fuck that guy) but Bluesky adoption is very slow. All the orgs are already on Threads.
Just give me a chronological follow timeline and I'll use it.
