Last night a bunch of these types took a bunch of my hockey kids to Hooters after our game. This brilliant idea came from one of the Moms. Police were called to the hotel each night for drunk and disruptive parents. (Not my team, there were 8 teams from 3 sports here) I was asleep.

Honestly, as soon as I saw Kathleen's brilliant sketch the poem came into my mind and I thought, "Oh, but this is me."

It was a brilliant pass, to be sure! Really liking what I'm seeing from the team early on.

this weekend at a wedding, i pointed at a dish of brilliant red raw tuna poke and exclaimed to my very-midwestern uncle, “i love fresh tomato! fresh tomato is great!” he took some and downed the entire dish i don’t think he’s ever had sushi, sashimi or anything of the sort, or i assume, based […]

In case you’re wondering, yes, it also fires little knock-off Lego-ish pellets, too. Nice potential choking hazard for kids, there. “Brilliant” design. Makes lawn darts look like fluffy playthings. Bad #DesignEthics.

Details how to load and shoot fake Lego pieces as bullets in the gun.

Ok I farted this out after seeing it

Megalopolis (2024)
2 1/2 stars
As someone who thinks about utopia and cares about how it’s represented in stories—not just about getting there, but the actual imagination of it—Megalopolis had me at turns totally delighted and witheringly disappointed. I can’t fully admit that its philosophizing was nonsense, but it was made extremely difficult to connect with.

If there is a metanarrative here about Coppola having unlimited artistic license as an anti-tyrant to make what he wanted, then there are no doubt brilliant things about this movie waiting to be discovered. But it would mean that the journey to discovery will be entirely too fucking embarrassing for everyone involved.

The main conflict that I cared about—between Cesar and Cicero, governing for the now versus governing for the future—is one that I really enjoy seeing depicted, and I think it’s the conflict that was given the most care here. Props.

Props also to the totally stacked cast, a bunch of people I like to see, and especially to Aubrey Plaza, making fools of themselves. Bravo. This should make some good gifs
