Plus, cyclocross is great cross-training (like, as an alternative training form) because there's running. Repair that bone density in the off-season! Doesn't work with gravel.
My guess is that 100 years ago they had no way of measuring this accurately. From the sounds of it this is new meteorological territory. Like the storm that hit PVD during Cyclocross Nationals in 2005

Still getting comfy on the cyclocross bike. It's a new build and totally different than anything I've really ridden. More aggressive,lighter. I'm sure that it will be just as fun in time. However there are few bikes as well suited for fucking around and going "Weeee" on than a vintage mountain bike
Turns out an 18 lb carbon drop bar cyclocross bike on 700c x 32mm handles differently than a 30 lb steel vintage mountain bike on 26" x 53mm tires. Who knew!
