Somebody science-y once told me that lightning is caused by ice particles slamming into one another in the atmosphere, causing a static build up. It's the most mythological science thing I've ever heard. That's what an ancient norse guy would tell you is causing lightning (with some added giants)

Colossal squid! I can't go past a cephalopod so large that it inspires mythological monster stories 🦑

It really is! Plus I'm a sucker for mythological creatures, such a great concept.

24. Going back to where I said Ricky follows a more Romano-British tradition; in terms of his mythological basis as a character, I thought it would be fun to make him a Jupiter figure (with Katy as Mars and Wes as Janus Quirinus) - giving him a priest-king function arc.

Two pages and a panel of pencils completed today, been incredibly productive! We're now over 50% of the way through the pencils for Siren, my new Chinese mythological fairytale, coming towards the end of the year! (Hopefully!)

A page of comic pencils. A monk and a young woman travel through the forest together.
A page of comic pencils. A young woman stops and hears something in the forest, but the monk travelling with her cannot.

Thanks! I might try and grab these then, depending on how hard it is to smuggle this stuff to the US. I grew up watching the Praed episodes of RoS and have the DVDs sitting around somewhere. Really liked the vibes of it between the misty woods and Clannad OST and the mythological lore with Herne

It's probably because the only thing shorter than my attention span is the amount of free time I can wrangle, but "Monster" games that are huge and enormous and take forever are this mythological "what if" scenario I'm drawn to. Like, what if I could just focus on A THING!?
