Some are confused — Nassau County has a mask ban. NY State doesn’t. Call your state electeds. Fight it! A college in CA has a ban. There isn’t a statewide ban. A mask ban was proposed in NJ but it’s not been passed. Call your state electeds now. Masking up will also help. #NoMaskBans

• Masking to conceal identity: Policies must clarify that no person shall wear a mask or personal disguise or otherwise conceal their identity with the intent of intimidating any person or group, or for the purpose of evading or escaping discovery, recognition, or identification in the commission of violations of law or policy. • Refusal to reveal identity: Policies must clarify that no person shall refuse to identify themselves while on University property to University officials who are acting in the performance of their duties in situations where assistance or intervention is needed Some are arguing that this is just a restatement of the California law that already bans wearing a mask during the commission of a crime. But the phrasing about "intent of intimdating any person or group" goes farther, as does the point about needing to "reveal identity." Anyway, the masking-while-criming detail doesn't mean you'd get to keep your mask on until convicted.

In Nassau County “Police will determine who is wearing a mask for medical reasons.” How?!? Many of us with invisible chronic illnesses have a hard time getting DOCTORS to take us seriously. Now we have to trust the police will believe us? #NoMaskBans#CovidIsAirborne#DisabilityRights#MaskUp

Police are not medical professionals. They’re not entitled to our medical information - nor are they trained to understand it. Mask bans lead to harm. Ppl - especially those marginalized & POC - will be forced to remove mask or face arrest. We must keep fighting back #NoMaskBans#CovidIsAirborne
