When my parents rode out Ian in SWFL, it took 24 hours for them to be able to get a cell signal to tell us they were okay, and the very first disaster responders were already in their neighborhood. I have many problems w the federal government but FEMA is not one of them.
So glad to be out of SWFL now but I feel for my friends there so much rn, I always am horrified for people who try to 'tough it out' and lose everything in the process and I hope people are taking this one seriously. The Waffle House Index does not fuck around.
