Reminder that Trump’s Project 2025 wants to abolish NOAA.

(1 of 5) JUST IN: Earth had its hottest August in 175-year record.

Summer 2024 was Northern Hemisphere’s warmest on record.

Fifth warmest on record so far (Jan-May) but lots of folks (elderly, kids, heat health issues) vulnerable to these extremes. Here’s the counties that had a top 10 warm year so far, and have high vulnerability. Lots of geographic features show up. #StateOfClimate

hate to be all classical about this but I reckon a line chart demonstrates the occurrence of a record-breaking year with a record-breaking margin a bit better

Today, we officially confirm that 2023 has smashed the global temperature record, surpassing previous years by a huge margin. This alarming conclusion is based on the consolidated global temperature figure derived from six international datasets.

The severity of the temperatures experienced in 2023 is vividly illustrated in @climatehawkins' renowned climate stripes, which, for 2023, incorporate a shade of red so intense that it represents the utmost extreme on the current scale.

While these climate stripes effectively initiate conversations on climate change and the #StateOfClimate, the urgency of the situation demands that 2024 becomes a pivotal year for escalating #ClimateAction. The time for mere discussion has passed; immediate and decisive action is now imperative.
