História 00004. Frayed, do Stephen Cole. ★★★½☆ É uma novela, publicada pela Telos, que me pegou de surpresa por ser um base under siege gostoso de ler, com personagens muiito bem construídos e bons elementos de horror. Crítica aqui: www.tumblr.com/lucascecil/7...

i am saying civility is a richer topic than appears if we restrict ourselves to the perfectly legitimate sense of standards of decorum. in a way, i am turning from a deontological angle to one focused on virtue as strength or capacity or power, with the attendant ingredient of a telos.

There's big chunks in the first half of ep2 that need changing or cutting if you want to do "space gangster recruits some 'ard lads but it's secretly to do a Telos heist to help occupied aliens, Doctor misjudges motive", and you should also do someone who isn't Lytton, a guy who works for Daleks.

Oh no! The exposition on Telos and Mondas and continuity! NOW I see the consensus on this story! The Doctor trying to brush off how Mondas is going to attack _next year_ - and Lytton's smug glee about his squirming - is quite good though, because that's ABOUT something and not just continuity.

Every once in a while Rowan gets to remind everyone she is heir to one of the most powerful thrones in Telos and has all the presence and authority that comes with that and I think that's lovely

I genuinely believe we need to talk about telos/teleology, but in a much more sophisticated way than before. Mutlicasual determination of a variety of mechanisms is nothing short of an ill social organism that we are all trapped in! (I am not happy with my phrasings, but I hope you get the idea)

Happy October everyone! This month, we are reviewing a pair of tales from the Telos novella range: “The Dalek Factor” by Simon Clark & “The Cabinet of Light” by Daniel O’Mahoney. 🎃 Happy reading! 📚 #DoctorWho
