Running the Trophy Gold incursion Hester's Mill tomorrow. Under prepared but highly motivated 💪 #ttrpg#trophyrpg For those who ran it: Did you finish it in one session?

One of the elements that makes running #TrophyRPG Dark a unique experience is that unlike most games, progress between scenes (rings in Dark) is not about the characters doing stuff, but rather the GM introducing stuff. The GM’s responsibility to move the story forward is so delightfully explicit.

Just got my character creation cards for the Trophy TTRPG! Took a while, but they’re *beautiful* #ttrpg#trophyrpg@gauntletrpg.bsky.social

The front of a black box that says “Trophy Character Creation Cards” below a stylized logo of a buck’s head and antlers
The inside of the box, which flips open to reveal a set of five smaller boxes of cards, labeled OCCUPATIONS, BACKGROUNDS, DRIVES, RITUALS & EQUIPMENT. The inside of the top of the box is a list of instructions for using the decks of cards to create a character.

Creating a Character

1. Draw one card each from the Occupations,
Backgrounds, and Drives decks.

2. Draw three cards from the Rituals deck.
Discard 1, 2, or all 3. Mark 1 Ruin for each card kept.

3. If using equipment in your game, draw three cards from the Equipment deck.

4. Review the questions on your cards. Think about possible answers, but keep them to yourself for now. Only share your answers during relevant scenes, when dramatically appropriate or at the prompting of the GM.

If you are unhappy with any of your cards, you are encouraged to discard them and draw new cards.

Typically complex for new people, a lot of things to look at during character creation, plus there are big decisions for future character development. Yet interestingly quickly the game is understood and is simple to play. #SFRPG #TrophyRPG 2/2

14) Favorite #TTRPG convention purchase That would have to be two sets of #Chessex 16mm d6 dice I bought at PAX Unplugged 2019. CHX 27602 Marble Ivory/Black CHX 27698 Lustrous Black/Gold I bought these to use as Light and Dark dice for #TrophyRPG.

7) Smartest #TTRPG I've ever played. "Smartest" can mean a lot of different things. The game I've found with dice mechanics that completely harmonize with the press-your-luck narrative gameplay has to be Trophy Gold by Jesse Ross (And it just won an ENNIE!) #RPGaDay2023 #TrophyGold #TrophyRPG
