I'd say it's fairly accurate, apart from "When a goose gets sick, wounded or shot down, two geese drop out of formation and follow it down..." My understanding is that the wounded bird's partner will stay with it, but no more. I suspect it's possible that the young in a family group would.

when reading war news, don't forget that casualties = killed + wounded e.g. if people estimate russia's suffered ~600k casualties in ukraine, some of those will be the same soldier wounded 2 or 3 times there's no way to know how many are killed vs put out of action vs wounded for a few days
