Many such cases. Usually, but not always, a smug white dude. I got “the Dems of today are the Republicans of 30 years ago” from such an acquaintance. I googled both parties’ 1992 platforms (readily available online) and sent him the links.
I've been reading (and enjoying) Kerry Greenwood's Phryne Fisher murder mysteries, most recently The Green Mill Murder. This is almost a locked room murder: someone dies at a dance competition but there are no possible suspects. Phryne gets on the case, because an acquaintance, Charles, is blamed.
"It agrees with what I Already Know To Be True so anything that says otherwise is wrong!" ....that's pretty close to a verbatim quote from a former far-left acquaintance a decade or so back before they stopped talking to me since I kept pointing out inconvenient facts. ;)
I would very much like to not unknowingly make an acquaintance related to those posts that I later find out can't even serve in the armed forces yet. It's not cool. Do ya get it?
Agree. In fact few people of my acquaintance have returned to the north west and with hefty return on the family home have bought houses for each of their children. I advise all young persons of my acquaintance to go northwest for better quality of life. Few have done so very successfully.
I’d say a work acquaintance is worse
there's nothing more terrifying than a non-work RL acquaintance casually mentioning 'oh yeah I follow you on BlueSky'
I understand. A Roman Catholic acquaintance of mine referred to herself as "religious but not spiritual," which is a phrase I've occasionally adopted for myself, though it doesn't quite fit me.
if your acquaintance, friend or partner is contemplating hurting themselves, consider giving them a good time instead of preaching to them about how good times will eventually come.
