I don’t really like these little mottos. They tend to add to misunderstandings and the people that use them are often rather awful. E.g., they love to bash people then use such a motto. On face value, these are fairly reasonable explanations for some behaviors.

bash can be handy, but it is also the clumsiest and least legible programming language by far. it's kind of insane that it's still as widely used as it is, but nothing else in the mainstream quite fills that niche
