I'm trying to remember to share the cards I've made, here is another I made to give to the people that looked after my late uncle. #Crafts#CardMaking#DieCutting#StampinUp#HandmadeCards

A portrait card with a black base.
Layered with a shiny peach, and silver foliage patterned card.
2 square frames, one peach, one orange, layered on top of each other at an angle, with floral patterned paper inside them - the colours are peach, orange, purple, green, and black.
Below the squares, is a black placard, with "Thank You" with peach embossing, and orange foliage die cuts, with purple gems, framing the opposite corners.

I'd like to get into the habit of sharing the cards I make in my free time. I made this one for my mum, to give to the staff that looked after my late uncle. #Crafts#CardMaking#HandmadeCards

A landscape, top fold card. The base card is pastel green, layered with a metallic patterned paper that's moss green with silver foliage. A pastel pink "Thank You" sits on top of a white rectangle card, dotted with 3 green gems. The white rectangle card is surrounded with various pink, green, and white foliage die cuts.

Common misconceptions in cardmaking: that they're hand drawn/that I can draw/that I can do a custom drawing (and that you can afford it if I do). Nope, sorry, a doodle of a decent quality would take far too long and cost you far too much.

Inks: There are two main families of inks in cardmaking. Dye inks are translucent, watery, and often reactivate with water. Pigment inks are opaque, often thicker and stickier, and are usually more water resistant. (Formulas vary, always read the label)

Have we had enough of yarncraft? Shall we have a go at something else? Let's spend a while on papercraft, things like cardmaking and scrapbooking and the like. A lot of the misconceptions here are just that people don't know things exist, so I'm gonna take you on a little tour of my materials.

A little life advice from your cardmaking friend...

A handmade card in landscape orientation: the card base is hot pink. The front panel, with a ⅛" pale pink border on all sides, is a patterned background of pale pink and brown filigree and fuchsia flowers on ivory.

Visible through a cutout on the right side of the card is pile of brown "poop".

There are two penants on the front of the card. Stamped in brown ink on the larger, hot pink penant is "OH SHIT!" in all caps. Stamped in hot pink ink on the smaller pale pink penant is "When everything goes to shit..."
The inside of a handmade card features the saying "Keep calm and eat a cupcake" stamped in hot pink on ivory cardstock. The ivory panel is matted on pale pink.

The brown that is visible through the cutout window is actually chocolate frosting on a diecut cupcake. The cupcake paper liner is diecut from the same brown and pale filigree patterned paper that is used for the front of the card.
