London itself has stretches of the Thames that overflow on regular high tides. If there is 700mm of rainfall within a 24 hour period in the Thames river‘s catchment area, then central London will be completely flooded. And the Thames barrier will not solve these floods - only exacerbate them.

Interesting development in wastewater monitoring in Belgium: Sciensano changed its measure from "number of copies per liter per people in the station's catchment area" to "ratio to copies of PMMoV" I never heard of that acronym but after I did, I must say, this looks quite smart! 1/
I would guess there's maybe been less rain in the upper catchment area perhaps.
There are definitely still ones for comprehensives round here, though I think quite a lot more for independents because of the larger catchment areas (the Oxford Bus company run various ones and the council run some more)
