Outremont's entrance to Parc Mont Royal at corner of ch de la CĆ“te-Catherine & ave Mont-Royal has reverted back into it's deeply eroded handrail-less death trap. This is especially true for older people. But applies to anyone the second it is slippery with snow. Look at that missing final handrail!

#BenchmarkMonday seems to come round sooner every week. Difficult marks like these are some of the most satisfying to find, further details can be found in the ALT text.

Pressed mark in a concrete canal bridge over the Birmingham & Worcester Canal, so well camouflaged that the previous logger was convinced it didnā€™t exist.
The broad arrow tells us thereā€™s a benchmark here, but strangely thereā€™s no datum line. Probably a repair has destroyed it.
This barely discernible mark in Worcester has been cut in the crumbly red sandstone of a railway bridge. Hard enough to find in this condition but made even more so as itā€™s now behind spiked galvanised steel fencing.
This probable cut mark is at ground level on one of the many stone posts in Cheltenham. Another benchmark the previous logger couldnā€™t find, assumed destroyed, only this hint of an arrow suggests its position, the datum eroded completely.

Interesting point. Despite good intent, poor quality research can have big downstream effects If highly read research is later found to have problematic stats/conclusion/replication, suddenly branching research is questioned, media can push eroded trust narrative, & resetting takes time & effort

I like to think of it as "mentally vibrating uncontrollably at the exact frequency of the cognitive dissonance arising from helplessly watching as in the present, the truth of the past is eroded by those in pursuit of defining our collective future as theirs alone" definitely not anxiety, nosir

What, as a treat?

Screenshot from the app Co-Star, which says:

"Good evening, jay. It's 81Ā° with isolated showers and thunderstorms.

You can violate your own boundaries, too."

Below the text there is a circular cropped grayscale picture of part of a face showing only some of the nose and mouth, the rest has eroded away.
