And to avoid that, you're willing to sacrifice Palestine and Lebanon. After all, you fear fascism in the United States, because it would harm you. But when the United States and their allies impose fascism on the rest of the planet, it doesn't much bother you, so long as you stay safe from it.

Something I feel is a little under-discussed here is a key finding from this work and many similar studies - that emitting first and then removing later - even in its most perfect deployment - still does net harm to life on Earth. There are no take-backsies; at least not in totality.
Scientists and world leaders have said we can “overshoot” and then return to our climate targets. But much damage will be done.

This feels like common sense to me, but I think a lot of people don't understand that if you ban something that has been legal for a long time, is safe, and is very popular is a sure-fire way to create a black market which *will* cause public harm.
