The Dark-eyed Juncos have been back for a few days but it was only yesterday I finally managed to get a photo of one. They are our true harbingers of winter and in fact their nickname is snowbirds #birds#birding#birdphotography#HamOnt#Ancaster#snowbirds#junco

A junco sitting in the shade surrounded by fall colours. His upper parts are steel gray and lower parts are white. His eyes are black and his beak is a pinkish-white.

Join us for a walk at Riis Park on 10/13. In mid October this underbirded park is bustling with migrants, including sapsuckers, kinglets, sparrows, and late warblers, as well as winter residents such as Cooper's Hawks and Dark-eyed Juncos. RSVP: www.chicagobirder.org/events/2024/...

We found some Dark-eyed Juncos during a visit to the Sequoia trees in Tuolumne Grove, Yosemite National Park. #birds

You must live near me <gestures widely>. Are you getting any dark-eyed juncos and lesser finches?

This post reminded me to stop scrolling (earlier) and pay closer attention to the juncos chasing each other through spruce tree, splashing themselves with the sprinkler’s leftover droplets.

Last night was a high-migration night and it was very birdy this morning. BUT all of the birds were kinglets and juncos and White-throated Sparrows and Yellow-rumped Warbs and THE END IS NIGH
