Legendary oak called “the hiding tree” near the abandoned 19th century settlement of Blakeley, AL

Huge old southern liveoak (I think) in a wooded area near the coastline. The sandy soil around the roots has eroded over the years exposing gigantic gnarled roots and a hollow space under the tree large enough for an adult to stand up in

Made it into back country today! About 12 miles round trip. To change out the hunters' litter boxes. Saw cattle and deer, but like the hunters we met, absolutely no feral pigs. Beautiful day.

Change is in the air at Tietze Park in East Dallas and all around North Texas. I walk here often. In right field of a baseball diamond for this shot. Mild autumn so far after a tough summer.
