*it's only mandatory for immigration. And yeah the consensual nature of the nonmonogamy doesn't matter. Basically if you're having sex with anyone else they consider the marriage fraudulent. For divorce, "collusion" (i.e. consensual nonmonogamy) invalidates claims of adultery. In BC anyway.
