AFTERNOON...

.South to southwest return flow develops Tuesday with gusts of 25
mph or higher through the afternoon. These increased winds along
with afternoon minimum relative humidity around 10 to 20 percent
may result in critical fire weather conditions again Tuesday.

Relative humidity recovery Tuesday night will be poor (<35% over
the west) ahead of a cold front that moves through Wednesday, so
elevated fire weather conditions expected. If winds are a bit
stronger Wednesday, fire weather headlines may need to be
extended into Wednesday.

OFFSHORE WINDS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP...

.Gusty north-northeast winds are expected to develop Wednesday
and last into Thursday across interior portions of Monterey
county, including the Santa Lucia, Los Padres National Forest,
and the southern Salinas Valley. A dry airmass already in place
will be subject to these gusty offshore winds of 20-30 mph,
promoting further drying with daytime minimum humidity as low as
8%. Poor overnight recovery will also be a factor, with maximum
RH in the 15-30% range each Wednesday and Thursday mornings. The
strongest winds are expected to be Wednesday evening overnight
into Thursday morning.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 516 Southern Salinas
Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio and Fire Weather Zone
517 Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest.

* TIMING...6 AM Wednesday until 8 PM Thursday.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally

At 1025 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located over Pamlico Beach, or 24 miles east of River Road,
moving northeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is
likely.

This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
southwestern Hyde and southeastern Beaufort Counties.
