Testing out the paper in this funny little watercolour sketchbook with a few splashes on the back page. The paper has a strange weave to it, and soaks up a ton of water. This is a view of Parc Lafontaine in the autumn. #parclafontaine#montreal#watercolor#painting#artist#art#blueskyart

Watercolour painting of a view of Parc Lafontaine here in Montreal. The scene has some trees in the distance, and one big tree in the foreground which has warm autumn colouring in the leaves. There are shadows on the ground cast by the different trees. I hope you can feel the sunshine coming through from the sky.

Just focusing on light and shadows, the forms tend to emerge on their own 😊.

Close-up of a plein air painting of the pond at Parc Lafontaine. This painting is done and watercolour in my tiny sketchbook. It shows some shadows falling across the trees in autumn light and reflecting in the pond.
I’m holding up my tiny sketchbook in my left hand in front of the view that I have just painted. The view is of the pond at Parc Lafontaine, here in Montreal. There’s blue sky, trees, and foliage along the edge of the pond and all is reflected in the pond. Painting shows only a small section of this.
My tiny sketchbook is on my lap along with my paint, palette, watercolor, brush, and water container. The sketchbook is open to the page that I have just painted of the edge of the pond at Parc Lafontaine.

What colour are tree trunks… sometimes blue, sometimes pink. I think about this a lot 🤔.

My left hand is holding up my tiny sketchbook with a watercolour painting in it. The sketchbook is open at about 2” x 4” horizontally. It is a tiny painting of the opposite side of Parc Lafontaine pond. The colours are autumnal, and there are some tree trunks along the edge of the pond with some foliage.

Pleinair painting in my tiny sketchbook at Parc Lafontaine, little pops of autumn colours here and there 🎨🍁🍂. #fallvibes #autumn #watercolor #painting #artist #sketchbook #parclafontaine #montreal #blueskyart

Here is a close-up view of my tiny sketchbook. It is open to a page with a watercolour painting of the pond at Parc Lafontaine in Montreal. Across the pond on the other side, along the edge, is foliage and trees, some of which are turning warmer colours with the autumn weather. Everything is reflecting into the pond, along with a patch of blue sky. Sometimes the wind blows along the surface of the pond, causing only a portion of the pond to reflect, what is directly above it, rather than what is facing it. That is why we see some blue sky on the surface of the pond.
My left hand is holding up my schedule book in front of the view that I have just painted. It is a tiny sketchbook, only 2” x 4”, open. I have used two pages for this painting. Behind the sketchbook is a view of Parc Lafontaine, in Montreal, with the pond and everything reflecting in it from the opposite edge. This includes sky, trees, and foliage. It is autumn, and some of the trees have warmer colours in them.

At Parc Lafontaine. Today I felt well enough to walk to the park and paint 😊🎨. #parclafontaine #montreal #watercolour #watercolor #painting #pleinair #arttoolkit #longcovid #art #artist #landscapepainting #canadianartist

Small, watercolor, painting, approximately 2” x 4”, in my tiny sketchbook. This is a painting done on site at Parc La Fontaine here in Montreal, and it depicts the view across the pond. There are some trees and bushes and a path leading up from the edge of the pond. There is sunlight coming through the tops of the trees and shade dappled along the bushes and the path. It is an autumn scene, and there are warm and cool colours coming through.
My left hand is holding up my tiny sketchbook, approximately 2” x 4”, with a painting of the view of Parc La Fontaine’s pond. I’m holding the sketchbook up with the painting in it in front of what I have just painted. There are trees across the pond and the sunlight is coming through it. I always like to see what my painting looks like once I have finished it, holding it up in front of what I have just painted.
My Tony schedule book is in my lap alongside my paint, palette, my brush, and my water container. I also have a piece of tissue that I used to blot the excess paint onto from my brush. The painting that I have just done in the open sketchbook is a view across the pond here at Parc La Fontaine in Montreal. It shows the sunlight coming through the trees, and falling with shadow dappled onto the ground along the edge of the pond.
