I oppose capital punishment for a number of reasons, the fallibility of our criminal justice system being at the top of the list (see: Cameron Todd Willingham). But the sheer barbarism and sadism it brings out in proponents is also up there.

Apart from the racism and sadism, that level of deportation is just not even achievable And they know it isn't, which means what they actually want are many (more) permanent concentration camps with enslaved prisoners.

I forgot about that bit. I haven't revisited the books in years. They were able to cut so much of the Boltons and still leave them horrifying for the show. I do remember Martin leaning far more into the sadism for the novels. The show Reek will never compare to the image of Reek I had in my mind.
