Game 7 - a game I love to Hate and Hate to Love! Ecco the Dolphin Yet another "my mom played and I cheered her on" game, bc boy everything in this game TERRIFIED me. And yet I was hooked, so much so that I wanted to be a marine biologist. The sequel was so hard I had to use Level Select!

As a kid I thought our game was haunted because the final boss glitched out and froze the gameplay while the Ecco sprite marqueed on screen forever. Turns out that's just something that Can Happen. I once filled the time between train arrivals after missing a train by calling my husband and yapping at him about this series for 2 hours.

1. Going to start with probably my favorite game of all time, Phantasy Star 4. It has a pretty damn engrossing story by 16-bit standards, and is commonly held to be the best RPG on the Genesis with good reason. You do not need to have played previous entries, but it helps provide a bit of context.
