identifying contradictions/hypocrisies and pressing people on them in the manner of, say, Tim Russert, is *easy* because it doesn't require substantive policy knowledge, it doesn't have a clear partisan valence, and it plays on readily available "they're all bad" tropes.

Even further back for some of those tropes. It was one of the core items for The Prydain Chronicles by Alexander, and I'm sure there were others, too.

Gonna expand on this because why not. When developing my fantasy universe I really, really wanted to avoid some of the tropes I disliked most in the genre. So things like homo/transphobia don't exist, nor colorism. IE, dark skinned elves are just elves, masculinity isn't tied to being a top/bottom

It uses a lot of Fire Emblem characters and progression tropes, but it's way more of an Atlus game than an Intelligent Systems one otherwise. So other than not recognizing which characters are there and which designs the modern day characters are supposed to represent, you wouldn't miss out on a lot

And the far right *HAS* been actually targeting lefties for recruitment (thereby turning the horseshoe into a circle) specifically through a lot of these antisemitic tropes Same as how TERFs have been recruited by Christian Nationalist anti-LGBTQIA groups THIS is why I warn about bad actors

With Moby Dick and at least some other things from that time I think it's also an issue that there are so many references to Biblical characters and tropes. Fine for me I study medieval Persian and Arabic but that leaves a lot of catch up for other readers.

Requiem tem praticamente todos os tropes que eu gosto, além da estética que é o tipo de coisa que eu viciei ano e fico procurando mais coisas nesse estilo.
