A federal judge has ruled that parts of the Texas voter security law SB1 is unconstitutional, and Texas can no longer investigate voter assistance efforts as a criminal act.
The judge ruled on Saturday that Texas can no longer investigate alleged cases of illegal vote harvesting. He said the state law is too vague and restrictive.
If you're encouraging your friends with controlling spouses to vote, recommend early voting in person. Remind them their spouse or parents cannot find out who they voted for. They can say it was no-wait and on the way back from an errand. They didn't think about it.
I also suspect this is one reason why polling has consistently underestimated the Dobbs Effect by as many as 15 points (women won't answer phone polls/online polls, or won't answer them honestly, due to controlling spouses or other family members)
Very common down here, never ever acknowledge you have a voter history when this happens is what I was taught. Just act like you're hitting every door on the block
This question reminded me of how often when door-knocking and using voter logs, we had just one woman from the household on our list of Dems to reach out to, but a very hostile man answered the door.
