OK, while the magic lingers (even as we slide back into our daily lives), we want to know: What was everyone’s favorite 4th Street moment this year? #4thStreetFantasy#Loadbearing
Alt: A gif of sparkling magic
There were several amazing panels, but several of the con suite discussions where we brainstormed issues and tried to help each other out were favorites.
Getting to bring new people into the family and watching them love 4th street as much as I do.
It’s hard to pick just one, but I was definitely grinning at the collective “ooohh” that went up from the audience when Matt used the phrase “the exit wound of the formative event.”
I’m going to be processing the panels for a while, so I can’t choose a moment from the scheduled content. It was all above and beyond my wildest expectations. Ask me in 6 months. But barcon and lunch discussions blew my mind. So many amazing and passionate people, with very cool brains. 10/10
The "Lode-Bearing Story Architecture" panel was mind-blowingly good.
I was in a bit of a fragile state so I didn't come out to play as much as I wanted, but in addition to all the things mentioned by others: seeing my spouse connect with one of his writing heros and the road trip both ways (particularly deep convos)
there are so many and I refuse to have just one but the first is Watching @mediapathic.bsky.social work. This guy is a Knight-Errant who becomes load bearing backstory.
Very happy with how the programming turned out, but because I am not afraid of hurting my own feelings, I can say that it was probably the return of post-con music. I /missed/ that
Predominantly I had joy and insight at 4th St. As usual. But I really value that we made space for the memorial for my friend Caitlin. You can have a party that's all joy, a symposium that's all insight. But a community is there for each other for all the emotions, not just the fun happy ones.
The way the notion of edges/fringes/borders and power colored so many of the panels from the programming notes onward. And the number of ways truth was/could be debated.
