Absolutely - no defence of O/TM here. Just reflecting the difficulty of generalising regulation to surge pricing more generally
Yes totally. I think that's a way of cutting this, though: is surge pricing justified because it helps match supply and demand, or is it simply opaque pricing? We wouldn't allow restaurants to give you a menu and then, once you've sat down and are about to order, say "20% surcharge on the bill now"
Isn’t this only what airlines do habitually?
