I get that he's no longer an MP but you'd think that these stories would at least mention the *£220,000* worth of gifts and freebies accepted by Boris Johnson over the same period, on top of the more than £6 million he received in political donations
The holidays in a Caribbean isolated island. Oh and who believes that a twice divorced man driving an old Toyota Previa cold suddenly find money for the keys to a mansion with a moats?
It's an attempted (and predictable) demolition job of Labour. Perversely, it might even strengthen their hand, if and when their policies start to benefit the punters. Until then, much more of this journalistic garbage to come.
Why do people give well off folk gifts?
The UK media is going to destroy the Labour government. I still can’t understand why media reform isn’t on Starmer’s to do list. It’s urgently needed.
It says since December 2019 when Johnson was most definitely still an MP.
Call me a cynic (guilty), but I rather suspect The Liar didn't bother to declare all of the gifts he accumulated as no doubt parliamentary rules did not apply to him.
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) politicians who call out these things are held to a higher standard. If we have to go down the “who’s least bad” rabbit hole, we may as well give up…
well at least he declared them, im not saying the gifts are right as they certainly not, but how many wealthy tories and reform MPs conveniently forget to declare.
Having finally digested some of this stuff I think Starmer was an idiot to accept all those freebies - could he not see what a hostage to fortune it was? - but that nobody who knows him thinks Lord Alli has ever expected anything in return.
Starmer's apologists miss one important thing. The promise that he and his party were something different. Those of us who knew better understand that Labour are just as bought and paid for as the Tories.
