Yeah copying and pasting from places like Bunpro has been a nightmare for me. Today, seamless.

I tested that today. Pasted from a website into notepad, then pasted from notepad to word. Word inserted the furigana and it went into anki without issue. It was beautiful.

Right? Years of study behind me and then in my class on Wednesday night my teacher was stunned to learn we didn't know word could do that. Full on "へええ、皆さん、知らない？”

いやいや、just the sap in the right place at the right time to learn something new.

本当ですね。 A billion apps out there claiming to have the secret sauce, and here is the humblest of programs ready to raise quality of life if only we find the way.

Though it got easier when I started ripping lines of dialogue out of TV shows and manga.

That is a pretty efficient approach. I have a "shinobi mode" deck where I try to do that. It is usually a sentence with a key grammar point that wants explaining, 2 or 3 kanji that want reading, and a target vocab word. Sufficed to say making cards in natural Japanese for that deck is a pain.

I tried RTK and bounced off it. I know it's a good system that works for a lot of people, though. My diseased brain isn't happy unless I am doing things the hard way.

I also have a grammar deck which is mostly just reading comprehension now but with minimal furigana and forcing myself to explain the grammar.
