Adding another one to my ā€œAccidentally painted a real thingā€ listā€¦

Current WIP, ā€œIn the Shadow of a Glacial Erraticā€, acrylic, 13x18 cm. Itā€™s now perched on a studio shelf where I can glance at it occasionally and maybe make some changes before varnishing.

Small landscape painting of a field with trees along the horizon. A small red house sits partially in the shadow of a much larger boulder floating in the air. The boulder has a small copse of trees growing on top, and is tethered to the ground by heavy cables tied to a single large peg.

Some of @horuseyepottery.bsky.social ā€˜s work. Thereā€™s a studio tour this weekend. Sheā€™s got a stop on her farm, and is hosting a photographer. Come and buy amazing art!

A Walk in the Park, acrylic, 20x25cm. This enigmatic stone or concrete cube isnā€™t actually lurking in the park at the end of my street, but my subconscious thinks it should be.

Painting of a park on a sunny day. Your viewpoint is from the shade of a clump of trees. There is a narrow dirt path leading across a sunny meadow to a cm line b of trees in the background. On the left side of the path is a large concrete or stone cube, about as tall as you. A crow is perching on top of the cube while a second circles overhead in a vu blue summer sky.

The end of my street

Photograph of the end of a road. The tarmac stops at an overgrown and broken chainlink fence. In the centre is a large diamond-shaped warning sign in yellow and black lozenges. Beyond the sign and fence is scrub and meadow with distant hills in the background.

Was well enough to go paint by the river this morning. Great way to enjoy one of the bonus summer days weā€™ve had this week

Photograph of a portable watercolour painting set and an enamelled mug of water on a park bench
Watercolour sketch of a river with some rocky forested islands, a pair of iron bridges one behind the other, and a city skyline in the background. The painting is annotated with the date, time, weather conditions, location, and compass bearings. 10:30-12:00, 24-09-18, hazy and warm, bridge to Lemieux Island from upstream at Lazy Bayā€. The centre of the painting is marked as 92 degrees east. A tall chimney in the distance on the right is labeled ā€œE. B. Eddy smokestack, 100 degrees East.

My first lino print since 1980. @silverhand.insidethe.studio 3D printed this miniature printing press, which inspired me to start making use of the inks I had bought last year.

Photograph of a small plastic printing press with a carved piece of linoleum on the bed. A print from that block lies on the table in front of the press, showing an image of a rat wearing a gas mask and holding a bell on its tail.
