As emergency response systems kicked into gear in the lead-up to Hurricane Milton, disabled people were confronted with the fact that those systems were not designed to save them and essential services were inaccessible. Read my reporting here 👇 atmos.earth/hurricane-mi...

They're well-conditioned to think only in terms of market competition and social hierarchy, with morality defined by whiteness rather than actions. Social conditioning carves us all into more or less perverse shapes that are useful to the (racist/classist) power structures we interact with.

When it comes to Israel/Gaza, always look at who the people you are amplifying are before you boost them. Seeing a clip of an anti-semitic, anti-LGBTQ, monarchist, Polish nationalist MEP going viral by ppl who would probably be appalled by him if they did an ounce of research.

If your boss tells you that you have to work today and you’re in the path of the hurricane and you’re worried about your job please know that you can call FEMA and apply for relief for your lost wages. Don’t risk your life for some power-tripper. People in NC died because of their asshole managers

The US had quasi-open borders until 1917. In the Colonial era/early USA, states exercised some immigration authorities, but mostly people just showed up. Congress took control in the late 19th century. We invented visas in 1917, shut off most immigration in 1924, and turned it back on in 1965.

the core of terfery is the belief that trans women are gross and icky part of the etiology is a framing of womanhood as virtuous and pure, which is an unspoken assumption underlying a lot of soi-disant feminists have when they say things like women leaders wouldn't start wars

Was just checking in on this, and there are *hundreds* more comments now and they are wildly in favor of these new regulations Sometimes demanding more of your government takes a little time and effort and it warms my cold bureaucratic heart to see so many decent, thoughtful people get involved!

I don’t know this guy. I don’t know what he/his family has or hasn’t done. But you can criticize his politics and his integrity without being a racist shitbag. www.nbcnews.com/politics/202...

Bernie Moreno, a businessman who emigrated to the United States as a child, came here to
"take advantage of America's wealth and greatness," Peg Watkins, the Democratic Party chair in Delaware County, a key area of the state that encompasses the affluent suburbs of Columbus, asserted at an event last week while warming up the crowd for Brown.
"So we are doing everything we can to stop him from invading our Senate," Watkins added.

It's worse, unfortunately. Whether Democrats are allowed to govern *in between* elections is now a partisan issue. Whether federal law applies to states is a partisan issue. A house divided against itself cannot stand.
