Hi @vcampanacho.bsky.social! So this legal battle happened ages ago - in the 1870s. The 'type set' is in Lisbon & next most complete set in Britain, & so on. While I haven't seen these collections mentioned specifically, they are of course part of larger debates occurring on specimen repatriation.
I had a bit of free time while on a two-month work secondment & finally went through some material on the legal battle between the British Museum & the Portuguese Government (/Kew Gardens) for Friedrich Welwitsch's Angolan collections. Truly a series of dramas not to be missed! 😜
